Team Verzus

Vegas Drift ProAM Round 3 was another great event put on by Vegas Drift. Yao was competing, but due to some technical issues, was not able to participate in the competition. Here is a shot from the event with (from left to right) Rob Gray, Erik Elder, and Zach “Yao” Hitchcox.

The problems with Yao’s car are minimal and will be back up and running for the May 4th Vegas Drift practice event teamed up with Import Face Off.

Brian Saip Top 8 AGAIN!

Brian Saip did another great job at VegasDrift ProAM Round 2 on March 30 2013 by placing 7th in the round. This is impressive seeing that it is his first season in ProAM. He has been getting a lot of seat time and is making the Team Verzus name proud. He is currently in the top 8 in terms of points for the season and we are very interested how he will do in the next two events. At this pace, he may achieve his Formula D Pro License in his first season (no jinx, knock on wood)!

Round 3 of Vegas Drift ProAM is scheduled currently for June 1st, if you can make it out to support our teammate on his quest to podium, please do!

Brian Saip at VegasDrift ProAM Round 1

Brian Saip did an amazing job today for his first drift competition. He has been preparing a lot for this competition. There has been a few problems with the car that needed to be ironed out. Every drifting knows the pain of building, building, building, and rebuilding a car until it works the way you want it. Even though the baby blue LS1/6 S13 was not performing optimally, Brian still pushed his way to 11th in qualifying and ended up 8th overall. Very good results considering the 40+ drivers and the first time he has competed in a official Formula Drift ProAM competition. We wish you much luck here from your team, and hope you keep up the great work!

Here are some photos from the event.

1JZ In and Out

Yao’s 1JZ GTE had some issues with the clutch recently. After closer inspection, we realized that the clutch needed to be taken out and reinstalled to verify integrity. So the WHOLE motor had to come out just to get to the tranny (tight fit!). JSFab came over to the house and busted his ass getting this motor in and out in one night. Clutch feels amazing now, and there shouldn’t be any problems with that.

While the motor was out, might as well do some upgrades! JSFab also hooked it up on a steering rack relocation to make sure there is no binding at high angles. Can’t wait to get this car out on the track. After the wiring problem is fixed, its dorifto time!

Yao’s S13 1JZ build update

So it has been a while since Yao has put a update out on his build. This build has been going for a while now and is almost near completion! Here are the pictures for the update. All the new fabrication and installation was done by Las Vegas’ Jesse Hanna. This includes the rear bash setup, fuel cell system, motor, etc. The cage, stitch welding, tubs, and 1JZ mounts were done by Forest Wang @ Get Nutz Laboratories here in Las Vegas. The car is looking like it’s going to be a monster and hopefully will have this thing put together and tuned within the next month.

We really tried to make this car dynamic in terms of being reliable and easy to fix. We went Vband on pretty much everything and all of the hoses and turbo clamps will be held on with Vibrant connectors and tbolt clamps.

Merely a flesh wound..

Luigi ran into a small snag at VDTT01 (VegasDrift Test and Tune 01) on Friday when he had a slight collision with the wall. Overall the chassis is fine, but now the front will either need to be tubed or completely redone. The LCA on the passenger was bent and so was the Inner tie rod (pic below). Luigi is going to take his time and take this crash as a reason to upgrade and overcome. Dont be discouraged Luigi! its merely a flesh wound 😉 Much love from your team and just let us know what we can do to help!
